Working in Harmony The Vancouver Chamber Choir would like to express its sincere appreciation to the British Columbia Boys Choir for its support, through the Barney Allen Trust Fund of the British Columbia Boys Choir Alumni, of our new community service musical initiative, Music for Healing. Two of the Vancouver Chamber Choir basses, Cameron Haney and Peter Alexander, are alumni of the BCBC, and Laverne Gfroerer, an alto with VCC, was the accompanist for the BCBC in the 1970s. The training received by these singers from BCBC has been invaluable in their musical development, and it is exciting to be working together in this way to create something unique. The new series Music for Healing will have 3 parts. The first part was 'Finding the Still Point', a CD of serene choral music designed to be used in alternative therapy sessions or at a time of palliative care. This CD was released in September 2006 and we are well into our third pressing. The second CD, being recorded in October 2007 for release in February 2008, is titled 'Unexpected Gifts'. This is the project which the BCBC Trust Fund has so generously helped to sponsor. It is a totally different concept, combining music and dialogue, and is meant to keep families dealing with the serious illness or death of a child from shutting down. The third CD, planned for the 2008/2009 season will be called 'Lullabies' To see a more detailed synopsis of the Music for Healing Series and the sponsors, please go to our website at www.vancouverchamberchoir.com and go to the Outreach header.
